How we can help

Practitioner Training

We offer services that are reflective, relational and grounded in lived and learned experience and evidence-based psychological approaches. Our approach centres compassion, collaboration, and continuous professional development – helping practitioners and teams to implement meaningful, lasting change.

Psychological Supervision

Supervision is “a psychological process that enables a focus on personal and professional development and that offers a confidential and reflective space for the [practitioner] to consider their work and their responses to it.” (British Psychological Society (BPS), 2010, p.7).

We are Akoma offer individual and group supervision to practitioners across sectors. We Are Akoma have identified this as a significant gap for many practitioners supporting the mental health and wellbeing of young people. We Are Akoma believe that multi-disciplinary practitioners should be accessing psychological supervision routinely in order to reflect on their practice, be accountable to continuing to develop and embed their cultural competence and support their wellbeing in highly demanding roles.

Bespoke training and consultancy

We Are Akoma offer consultancy and bespoke training to teams, services and organisations that focuses on cultural competence, anti-discriminatory practice and the impact of racial trauma on children and young people’s mental health. Our workshops are curated to be engaging and experiential, by experienced trainers with years of clinical experience. Please contact us to enquire or request an estimate.

More ways we can support

Lunch and Learn

We Are Akoma are developing a series of ‘Lunch and Learn’ workshops to nourish, nurture and network like-minded professionals committed to anti-discriminatory practice. The facilitators will curate discussions and networking within a responsible and therapeutic space.

Speaking events

Our Founders Ama and Kemi offer keynote addresses at conferences or can be booked as panellists at events. We are also available to speak to children and young people in school assemblies/PSHE sessions or other events about issues related to minoritised identities and mental health.
